Loreen Niewenhuis

Michigan Grown Arts at Newaygo Library
Lake Michigan Walk
November 30th, 2017
Featuring:  Loreen Niewenhuis

Author, adventurer and Great Lakes speaker Loreen Niewenhuis is scheduled to speak at the Newaygo Area District Library on Thursday, November 30 at 7 pm.
Newaygo Area District Library is located at 44 N State Road, Newaygo.

Niewenhuis grew up in Michigan and has lived here most of her life. From the time she was a young girl climbing sand dunes and splashing in its cool waters, Loreen felt connected and drawn to Lake Michigan. Her love for Michigan’s natural beauty influenced her pursuit of a life of science. She was educated in the sciences at Calvin College and Wayne State University, and in writing at Spalding University.

She completed a trilogy of 1,000-mile adventures exploring the Great Lakes and has written three books about the Great Lakes: “A 1,000-Mile Walk on the Beach,” which was a Heartland Indie Bestseller; “A 1,000-Mile Great Lakes Walk,” winner of the Great Lakes Great Reads Award; and “A 1,000-Mile Great Lakes Island Adventure.”

Books will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation. The November 30 program is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs Mini-grant Program, administered by LowellArts.
