Michigan Grown Arts Program at Newaygo Library

On September 19, Newaygo Area District Library received notification of award of a LowellArts mini-grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. The Michigan Grown Arts program at Newaygo Library will feature artists and speakers with Michigan connections for monthly variety programming for adults or families when appropriate. A broad range of artistic expressions will be represented, such as authors, illustrators, musicians, crafters, painters, and photographers. The monthly programs will continue through September 2018. Stay tuned for more!

Annie Speaks

The first performance will be held on Thursday, October 26 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the Newaygo Area District Library.  “Annie Speaks” features the award winning actress and director Collette Cullen portraying Annie Sullivan, Helen Keller’s teacher. Helen Keller once said of her, “The day I met my teacher was my soul’s birthday.” Cullen as Annie encourages her audience to ponder Keller’s statement and discover their own talents to live a purposeful life. A published author, Cullen’s young adult novel, Annie Finds Her Magic, inspires the reader to persevere while discovering their own talents to live a purposeful life.

All families are invited to join the Newaygo Area District Library to experience this delightful program on Thursday, October 26th, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Refreshments of donuts and cider will be served. The author will provide copies of her book, Annie Finds Her Magic, for purchase and to be signed.
