Friends of the Library Meeting

Mission: The mission of the Friends of the Newaygo Area District Library is to provide volunteer and financial support that will enable the Library to enhance it facility, its programs, and its service to the community.

Fundraising: The Friends raise most of their funds by selling a wonderful variety of used books at their Bookstore located in the Newaygo City Hall. 

Recent Accomplishments:
The Friends recently purchased  the following,

  • Custom T-Shirts for the Children and Teens Summer Reading Program.
  • Television and DVD player for library programing.

Volunteering:  Currently we are looking for people to help work the book store.


We welcome clean, gently-used books, CDs and DVDs.  We especially need children's books.

We are unable to accept:

•     Textbooks
•     Medical or computer books older than 5 years
•     Encyclopedias
•     Magazines
•     Readers Digest Condensed Books
•     Harlequin Romances
•     Large book donations from stores or businesses

Monetary donations may be made via check or cash and returning it to the Friends by mail or in person at any service desk at the library.  At this time we are not able to accept credit card donations.


Sheepshank Sam

When:  June 29, 11am-12pm
Location:  Brooks Park
Brooks Park is located behind City Hall and is open to the public year round.

Listen to Sheepshank Sam, a lumberjack who will transport you back in time to a lumberjack camp in Michigan's northern wilderness.  Kids will also have the opportunity to use lumberjack tools and equipment.

Will be closed in honor of Independence Day

Elain Welbon GuitarIn loving memory of Elaine Welbon, former library lady, avid reader, horse enthusiast, music lover, and so much more to all of us. Elaine aged 85, of Grant, passed away on May 20, 2017.
Elaine is survived by her son, Rex Welbon; sisters, Linda (Bob) Janecke and Marilyn Andrews; several nieces and nephew and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newaygo Area District Library-FACF Memorial Donation.
